The OWASP AI Bill of Materials (AIBOM) project has seen exceptional momentum since its launch a few weeks ago. The initiative is progressing strongly across community building, workstream development, and infrastructure setup.

Community Growth and Participation

• The project now includes 52+ active members representing leading global organizations.

• Clear project goals have been defined and aligned across the community.

• The initiative is structured into 8 dedicated workstreams, each driving focused progress:

  5. Integrity and Quality

  8. Foundational Best Practices

• The project secured its first sponsor within the first three weeks.

• Professional infrastructure is being developed, including:

  • Project webpages

  • Blogs

  • Podcasts

  • Recorded sessions

  • Roadmap documentation

  • Community events

Why AIBOM Matters

AIBOM is positioned to bring much-needed transparency to AI supply chains, similar to how SBOMs transformed software supply-chain security.
The project aims to document key components of AI systems, including:

• Model lineage

• Training data characteristics

• Dependencies

• Associated risks

• Deployment context

As AI systems rapidly become critical infrastructure, such transparency is essential for security, compliance, governance, and public trust.
